Preliminary development of this web site was started in April
1998 by Scott Kuehn, a professor
of Mass Media Arts, Journalism,
and Communication Studies at Clarion University of Pennsylvania. Scott
constructed an outline, gathered graphics materials, and took pictures of the train,
stations, riders and volunteers in April and May of 1998. He then brought the raw
materials to the summer 1998 section of his COMM
360 class, Publications Editing for Web Sites, for students to work with as a web
publishing exercise.
One of the student projects was so
impressive, we decided to use it as the basic foundation for this web site. Adam Earnheardt,
demonstrated a flair for web design and copywriting, he developed the basic page layout
and design, as well as the copy you see on this site. Scott Kuehn produced the web
site, which included copy editing, picture graphics, html design, multimedia effects,
Commentbook and other cgi implementation, and site construction. Lou Adelson served as editor and patient
motivator. Lou served as webmaster of this site until his untimely death
in December 2006.
